  1. Being able to test within military bases makes sense as it is a confined environment with specific use-cases.

    The security aspects are definitely an interesting aspect of these DoD trials. One would think that security would be a major emphasis.

    I could see 5G having a huge application for driverless vehicles at these military bases. It might not be so much for real-time control, but for transmitting real-time video and other surveillance data. Instead of human sentries, perhaps DoD will deploy something like the Knightscope K7 to guard the perimeters of the larger bases https://viodi.com/2017/09/21/a-force-multiplier-an-autonomous-mobile-sensing-device/
